Slingerland "Jet Outfit" Hoop? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

So the BDP slingerlands (See thread below) came with this hoop. I don't think the kit was orginally a jet outfit (as it appears to have been originally drilled for a rail mount - but who knows).

Issue:

I couldn't get this thing to seat around a 20" head, but when I measure it it comes out seemingly big enough? Is it the correct size and just won't seat with modern bass-drum heap hoops? Or is it maybe a metric head? Seems like it is a textbook sticksaver jet-set head, it even has the holes for the pedal clip.

Am I safe in saying that this is a Jet Outfit hoop when I try to sell it?

Is there some chance that the reason I couldn't get a head to seat is that it's a metric hoop?

(it appears to be COB, by the way)

I am having trouble uploading, so there is the one attachment and then here is a link to another picture (with measuring tape)

You might need a 20" tom head as opposed to a 20" bass drum head. I know the bass heads tend to be thicker on the edge than a tom head. And given it's an actual rim and not a bass hoop that may be the issue.

"Jet Outfit" is typically an 18" BD. You probably have a 20" chrome floor tom hoop and you need a 20" wood bass drum hoop.

That's kind of what I'm figuring. I plan to sell it, as Ive gotten proper bass drum hoops for both sides of the bass already, and I don't think it's original to the kit anyway. I just don't want to rip anybody off by claiming it's a 20" Slingerland hoop, when it's actually some kind of random 50cm knockoff or something.

I've seen the 18" in the catalogs, but I have heard of 20s existing as well, and this hoop has the holes drilled to install the clip on bass attachment, which is the main reason I think it might be originally a bass hoop. They could be drilled later, but they are pretty darn clean.
