Coolest Vintage Cocktail Drum For Sale, Zim Gar Satin Flame!

Loading...

This is a super cool vintage MIJ cocktail drum, in some of the best preserved satin flame I've ever seen. It sounds awesome, seriously the best cocktail bass drum and snare sounds I've heard. The included cowbells and bongos sound great, too.

I made a custom angled mount for a hi-hat which works wonderfully, but will include the original second straight cymbal post as well. I also purchased and will include a vintage Ludwig tilter attachment for one of the straight cymbal posts, so you can mount a small ride at an angle. A pedal mounting bracket (hard to come by!) is also included, as is a Ludwig Speed Master pedal.

There's no feeling like being able to bring all this awesomeness to a show/rehearsal in a single trip! It's just oozing hipness.

$650 local pickup near Los Angeles.

Is that a 14" or 16"? That is one sweet looking cocktail kit. If I needed one for any reason I'd be interested. But sadly it would likely sit somewhere and not get the love it deserves. Really dig that blue satin flame.

It's a 14", nice and portable. Cocktail drums aren't for everyone, but when they're right they're REALLY right!

I confess up front that I won't be buying. However, in view of the fact that it's a serious vintage piece, I'm curious how the snare drum aspect is engaged.

Thanks,

There's a knob like an internal muffler that raises and lowers a fan of snares. It sounds really cool.

So cool.

I see 2 knobs on the side of the 14" CD.

Do 1 of these knobs engage a bundled set of snare wires on the bottom underside of top head?

And the other a muffler?

I could see mounting a 10" snare off the side of the CD.

"Hey, how many things can I mount on this tube"

"How much weight can it handle? LOL

It is a great set.

Yep, there's a muffler as well. It's pretty strong, I've been able to put quite a few cymbals and percussion items on it with no issues.
