Need help identify Ludwig Monroe Last viewed: 22 hours ago

Hi, there! Need some help to identify a Ludwig Monroe drum kit. The owner says it's 1970-s, but I couldn't find anything on that badge. He also claims it's 6 ply maple. I want to buy the drums, but have some doubts... Thanks!

Ludwig didn't move to Monroe until 1985 so no way they are 70's drums under any circumstances. That badge is unfamiliar to me. That, coupled with the really small lugs and the grain of the outer ply, says it's a set from one of Ludwig's lower lines to me.

+1 with what Kevin has already mentioned.

My :2Cents: says its an Accent kit that has been stripped of its wrap. The badges may or may not be original to the shells. My gut instinct says they are not. The Accent is a cheap imported beginner kit. Move on with this one!

Unless they're $50 for the set move on. More authentic kits are available without all of the questions and half truths.

That's an interesting kit. Typically, the foreign Ludwigs won't have a grommet within the badge. The hardware appears to be Accent though; I believe the Accent line was made in Taiwan. The badge reminds me of an anniversary badge from 2009.

It's my opinion that the exterior ply is not maple judging by the grain. I'd want to see the drum interiors, specifically the grommets. The seller might have been given some wrong information on the kit.

1990's Ludwig Accent series stripped of their wrap and fitted with 100th anniversary style badges. Not worth much. Probably sound decent though.....
