Proper grommet needed for transition badge Ludwig snare

Hey guys,

I'm going to complete the refinish on my transition-badge '59 Ludwig Pioneer (or, I assume it's a Pioneer... 6-lug mahogany). I started this like 4 years ago but want to finish the job. Right now it's just in an unfinished state. When I put it all back together previously I didn't have a replacement grommet so I re-used the original one and did a ****e job putting it back in. I want to make sure I get the correct one that matches this badge/era so it doesn't look funny. And also, I've never used a grommet tool... is it really something you can make at home like that bolt and nut contraption or should I get a special tool?

Anyway this is a current pic of the badge and grommet; I assume it's a brass grommet but you guys know better than I do..

Agreed, make sure to get the 3 ply brass grommet. I use the special tool also sold by Old Kentucky drum on ebay. The home made tools don't perform a factory looking job as the tool will do,

Yes, that is the original one all mangled up inside; if I didn't put it back on it would surely get lost knowing me...

As stated, the brass 3-ply grommet is what you need. And I completely agree with using the special tool to install the grommet. Even if you only use it this one time, the results are better than that obtained by home made tools!

Even if Old Kentucky Drums doesn't show exactly what you need on Ebay, just message him through the contact seller option on Ebay. He'll hook you up with what you need.
