1958 Ludwig Transition Badge with matching Jazz fest Last viewed: 3 hours ago

$1000. Last chance before the dreaded ebay. Well I am selling my faves. I recently bought a DW Buddy Rich Radio King clone and a real Radio King kit from the early 50's. The Ludwigs are the casualty. First the good. They are Ludwigs from the golden era. The shells are awesome, the tones incredible, the snare sings. The floor tom has such a natural deep tone to it that it almost cant be tuned bad. The rack thuds. And then the bass drum. .. . heaven. Sizes are 14x22, 8x12, 16x16 and 5x14 Jazz Festival.

Now the not so good. This kit was originally a Hollywood kit with a second 8x12. That tom was stolen in the 60's. The original tom hardware was replaced with a more modern Ludwig hardware on the drum itself. The bass drum does not have extra holes. The bass drum tom mounting hardware is unchanged. There is fading throughout the kit from Sky Blue Pearl to an almost grayish/green color. The floor tom legs are correct, but someone replaced the rubber feet. There are typical dings and scratches throughout especially on the bass drum rims. The worst is a cigarette burn on the top of the bass drum. These are the reasons that it is not a $2000 kit. I've got an offer that I can work with, but would really like to sell it to one of you guys. My offer is for $1200 but I am not motivated to sell it to just anyone. This weekend only I will let this go for $1200 on this forum. This kit is just a thorough cleaning, polishing and bass drum hoop sanding and painting away from being a $2000 kit.

I guess so. The only mod is the tom mount on the rack tom. The bass drum is all original.

Just a friendly suggestion. Get pics of the kit outside. Overcast days are best for pics. This will give the buyer a better look at the wrap. Good luck with your sale!

Good news That yellowing can be removed from the wrap.

Very nice kit, and definitely best era of sound and quality.

Too bad you can't remove it from people's lungs.

Really nice kit though. Well worn history.
