Great looking kit JR.Clapping Happy2
Beauty! Is that orange sparkle?

Here's the odd contraption after taking it off the kick. This is how it would look from the players prospective. The cymbal arm is to the right, that little rod in front is for a cowbell and the tom mounted from that slide type arm to the left. The whole gizmo was mounted on the kick with two bolts under the slide arm into two holes in the kick that were probably originally for a rail mount. The cymbal arm also slid into the Ludwig cymbal holder that's on the kick. Whew, that was a mouth full.
I have to admire the guy's ingenuity! That's actually pretty clever. I assume you'll put the correct rail and cymbal mount back on?
And yeah, that was a mouthful. I hope you remembered to breathe while typing! :D
There is no wrap, that is bare wood that the previous owner lightly stained. I could re-wrap them, but I think they look cool the way they are.

Interesting for MIJ - usually the grain runs vertical and the wood is darker [mahog]. Does it seem like a wood veneer was added? Either way, looking good!

The grain is running vertical, for some reason the kick looks darker.
They have the thicker shells with no re-rings and the grey interior.
congrats on your score Mark. glad you found what you were looking for. nice looking lit'l kit, cant wait to hear the sound file of it. them shells and the hardware look just like the kit i did in tie dye. only difference is my snare is a 10 lugger. anyways, good luck with your new (to you) kit. they should sound great once you get them tuned up to your likings.

Thanks Robyn, it was funny because I just happened to pop in to the shop on a whim. He had just set up some new kits and these were kind of hidden, but I immediately spotted them. They stood out like a sore thumb amongst all the beautiful new drums. I asked, how much? He responded with, umm, $200. I said, I'll take it! I was there all of 5 minutes, one of the easiest transactions I've ever had.Cool1
cool Mark.Cool1Yes Sir them the kinda stories i like. Walking
i hope you get many hours of enjoyment from playing them.
oh and if ya ever decide to wrap them...i think they'd look realy cool tie dyed. (wink)
