From Dan Boucher

As to jc's comment on black drums and cars; you're breaking my heart man! LoL

I'm with you Dan, 100%. I custom ordered my 1974 Rogers double bass set in black (Ebony). I went with black because it's classic and non-trendy. It never goes out of style.

As to modifying that cool Avanti setup, it is his set so I guess he can do what he wants with it, even if we think it's sacrilegious. I'm certain this very same debate occurs every day on the vintage car forums.

Let's have a show of hands that thinks he can do anything he wants with his drums....it's unanimous! Not much to debate anymore.

We are still talking about drums right? These are not priceless Egyptian relics. They aren't one of a kind pieces of art. They are for the most part mass produced with no shortage for those who want them. They are not as important as many think. Dare I say not important at all. Just drums. So I say drill paint screw glue cut grind and sand away. It won't make a single bit of difference. Just get out and vote please. That is important.

Truer words were never spoke, except for the voting part, shhhh, no politics allowed here.

Hah! Yeah I saw what I did after I posted. I meant voting on the hot topic of the day. Regular or cherry coke.

I'm probably setting myself up here :D but I kind of did the same thing that they guy the op is talking about. I took some Ludwig Rockers (not that collectible, I know) that were in perfectly good shape and wrapped them in a turquoise sparkle wrap. The red was boring to me and the sparkle finish looked more "vintage" to me anyway. I don't planning on selling these but if I did, I would tell whoever bought them exactly what they are and that they were re-wrapped.

At least you kept the badges, original legs,mounts,etc... The kit still has that vintage feel and look. I think I'm more bothered by the extra hole, loss of the badges, and the conversion of non slingerland toms into looking like slingerland toms ( the smaller two on the kit )

But again - this is just a personal thing that bothers me. Doesn't really matter in the long run. I'm just saying.

Oh and by the way - Vanilla Coke! - We have a chain of restaurants here in CT called Duchess. Inside they have a self serve soda machine. But they have more offerings than you can shake a stick at. Cherry,Vanilla,Orange,Raspberry,Lime, and regular coke, I mix all of them and OMG delicious. Sorry - got off topic.

I definitely understand where you are coming from. I contemplated leaving them red but this is the only "older" kit I have and I wanted something with more "piazza" lol.

I dig them, and actually went with the same seller off Ebay for my Blue Sparkle wrap.
