Ludwig BO 402...serial Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Dear intelligencia,

can I ask if a Ludwig Lm402 serial number would be sufficient info to point to its age? A friend is tempting me with a fairly tidy BO badged beauty serial 1817108...

He thinks he was told it might be early 70s?

Your advice welcomed!

...it might become my first 402 at this rate

(having so far played about with the Brit copies...a Beverley 21 and Premier 36!)

Cheers

Rob

With that number it more likely dates to sometime around 1980. Still a cool Chicago made drum. They didn't really change much through the years so one from 1980 isn't really different in any significant way from one from 1970 (or even one from 1990 for that matter).

The badge shape can also narrow down the age.

What shape is the B/O badge, pointy or rounded corners?
