Roy Haynes solo...what a cool dude...

How cool is this? Nice Luddies too. Anyone know what they are? 18" bass and I think a supra, 12" & 14", but other than that... Regardless, a great little solo!

Those drums are 1966-7 mohogany finish Ludwig Jazzette kit with 12x18 bass drum, 12x8 & 14x14 configuration. The Keystone Jazzette were all 3-ply and made (cataloged) from 67 to 69. Go to the Gallery search for Osahead2 and see a original 1968 Jazzette kit to get a idea what one looks like in color. Oh by-the-way the 3-ply Jazzette kit sound beautiful!

And...speaking of Roy Hanes. I have the utmost respect for his drumming skills, yet I don't feel that Slingerland sticks with his name on them generate great interest and high prices. Someone on eBay was trying to sell a NOS 7A pair, first at an opening bid of $100, with a BIN of $1000. When they didn't sell, they were offered again for a BIN of $300! That auction was ended "because there was an error in the listing". Hmm...could it be the price. Please educate me if I'm way off base here.

Yeah, they sure do! I'm in the process of converting a 76 Luddy 18" orphan ft into a BD, and this clip confirmed in my head that that was the right thing to do. So have you! I will now go look at the gallery...

Thanks mate!

Yes sir, that's it and I have another one in original natural maple too.

Lovely kits they sound really nice especially when played with a Pioneer snare drum giving the 3-ply kit a totally matched woody jazz sound.
