Simply Stunning Gretsch BOP kit on eBay Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

I wanted to call attention to this beautiful Gretsch kit on eBay, item number 262248170735

While I love vintage Gretsch drums as much as anyone, I have to admit that I've never owned a set! Mainly because they are really expensive, but, most importantly, I never cared for the W&A rail consolette and cymbal arm. Really cheap hardware, IMHO, that never held up well. This kit is pure class with the addition of Rogers Swivomatic tom arm and cymbal arm. And, I've always loved the Progressive Jazz snare drum.

I've scaled down 5 pictures so you can see this beautiful kit. As to the asking price, well, it's way too much for my wallet!!

I saw them and while it is a nice vintage kit, I can't understand why they are demanding that kind of price. It's just ridiculous!Cooked Egg

Bop sets are in demand right now and that brings more money than the sets with bigger drums plus this is a more rare finish and that ads to the price . I like the Swivomatic hardware on this as well as the W&A rail consolette that they usually used . Every time one of these BOP sets goes up for sale people always ***** about the price . Well, if they did not sell for the big bucks then they would not be getting listed for those prices .

I, too, wasn't really sure if this was a fair price or not. I just looked through my saved pictures and came up with this beautiful 3pc Burgundy Sparkle BOP kit. 8x12, 14x14, 14x18. Sold in September, 2013 for $11,211.00, and that was without a snare drum or the better Swivo hardware!

And, 1966bmx is correct; BOP kits are in demand, the color is rare, the Swivo mounts add value...AND...it includes the matching Progressive Jazz snare drum!

Nice looking,

has the finish I want, unfortunately, not the Slingy modern solo I'm looking for... would make a great set for a Gretsch collector

While the Swiv-O stuff is definitely superior to the W&A consolette, I personally would not feel right about a Gretsch kit with another maker's hardware on it, even if it were factory installed. That's just my OCD. For $12k I'd want all Gretsch hardware, or virgin bass drum.

This has been listed for months now, no surprise there I suppose. At first the seller wa not including the Rogers hardware with the drums, which I found comical.

I think we all can relate to each others OCD when it comes to certain aspects of vintage drums! For myself, knowing that installation of other makers hardware was a legitimate happening, I have no issues with Rogers Swivo hardware on Gretsch drums of the correct period.

I was not aware that this kit has been listed before, but NOT with the Rogers hardware! That would make no sense to me! Good to see it included this time.

I think the Swivomatic hardware is by FAR the best out of any vintage hardware and like I said I dig the W&A rail consolette . I know it does bother some that the Rogers hardware has been mounted but if I were in the market it would not bother me . It would bother me had it been re drilled for the Rogers stuff though .Yeah it has been for sale for a while but then again so have been most sets that are this expensive with very few exceptions . I have pics of this set saved on my Pinterest page and go back every once in a while and just drool over it .

Actually it was only originally listed without the cymbal arm as it was part of another Rogers set the seller has . The tom hardware was included .
