Help requested with drum info and value

Loading...

Hello,

I am working on sorting things from my parents' estate and wondered if anyone here could provide any info about a pair of drums I have and what they might be worth. They are from the 50's and from what I found so far, I believe they are 1950-54 range. There is a large drum with pedal (kick/bass drum?) and a smaller (snare?) drum.

I will attach a few pics. (Note: having problems with attachments, will try to update shortly)

Any input with more details or possible value would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Judging by the lugs (those little parts on the snare drum that attach the drum head to the drum ;)) You have a Leedy snare drum, but i'm not sure of the model.. Someone who's knowledgeable with the Leedy drum company will elaborate further as to the exact model and value of your drums.. The drum certainly looks like it was well taken care of, which will make the drum higher in value.. The rarity of the drum will further increase the value as well.. Hope this helps, and good luck..I'm sure you've got something good on your hands !

Thanks! Yeah, the badge says Leedy and Ludwig. I finally got the pics posted in another post using my laptop ... the attachments feature didn't seem to agree with my ipad. :)

Your drums are Leedy Ludwig, they are made by conn which at the time owned both names of leedy and Ludwig, They from the late 40's to early 50's. they are fantastic drums.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Are you sure there is no other toms that go with this bass drum and snare? Toms would add to the value a lot.

Welcome to the forum! Those are in great condition. Please don't attempt any cleaning. They are fine as is. If you are anywhere near WA.state might be interested.

Thanks!

Creighton

Nothing special here but I like them.

Wow ! Those drums look like they came direct from the factory ! I would +1 with Creighton and advise to avoid cleaning. Maybe a little dusting, but that's it.. Leedy and Ludwig were both merged with each other for only a short period in it's history, (1951-1954) so that right there increases the value. If you've got anymore drums that go with the kit, you have something special for sure.. I own a Leedy and Ludwig reliance model snare drum that i'll never get rid of.. It's a beautiful sounding drum and one of, or possibly THE best snare drums i've ever owned.. Here's a link to what could possibly be your drums ..

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I keep thinking there should be another drum or two around, but I haven't found any more so far. Will do some more searching again when I'm there.
