Nothing new, just an update. I didn't get a chance to stop by Dana's shop yesterday, so nothing new to report. I will work the stop in over the next few days though.
Happy Halloween all!

And here's the promised pics... finally. I've been busy as... but he wants these out of the way. I don't want 'em. PM me. These photos are for the history books. A pretty sad time at Rogers...

So...here I am at 4am, looking at a post you submitted about 30 minutes ago! It's obvious that we both can't sleep! LoLoLoLo
5.31 am here 6 hours later... but it's actually tomorrow.. Crazy???
All I can say is, that they look worse than I'd imagined...
Cheers
John
they would make a great light fixture
Yes! Like this...

I can't imagine that these "Rogers" would actually hold a tuning, but kids just starting out have to bang on something, and better that they smash away on something like this rather than something expensive.

Whew... been busy. The problem with selling these to a kid to learn on is they won't last. I pick up kits all the time, starter kits mostly, clean 'em up, make 'em playable and flip 'em normally for a bit less than 200 bucks. There isn't much money to be made, but it's fun to do. This kit, with the plastic parts, just won't pass the beginning drummer 'banging on the bongos like a chimpanzee' test. The drums would self destruct, and the kid would be out a set of drums.
Lets be realistic; these things aren't worth squat. Not even parted out. Some drums with these cruddy parts are. Ludwig, Sonor, etc... But NOBODY thinks these are nostalgic enough to want to do much of anything with. Flower pots, light fixtures...
I know what he has in 'em, and frankly I'm afraid to mention a price five bucks higher for fear of having to haul 'em home.
Nope, I think I'm going to suggest Goodwill or The Salvation Army for these, haul them out of his way and suggest to him to take the tax write off...
Here in the states, Thanksgiving is Thursday. I wish everyone a great one, or at least a good Thursday for you folks that aren't celebrating.

Just remember this fiasco did not come from Rogers R&D... Corporate pulled the plug on the formula in lieu of a different much cheaper mix. There sometimes is a reason to consult an engineer.
It would be cool to keep them as a no touch static display. One of the great drum fails...with all the good history there is also bad. Seeing how resale and value are low.... it's a interesting conversation piece.
