As perplexing as this fact is, does anyone have an idea as to why Ludwig's pro hardware is also made in China ? You would think that their high end gear would still be made in the USA.. I just tried the Atlas pro single pedal and it's probably the best pedal i've tried in a while,(to my 44 year old, formerly fractured right foot which requires lightweight and speed);) and was thinking of buying it.. The only concern i have is the made in China aspect..We all know that most goods made in China, whether musical instruments or any other product, is for the most part, crap.
I've always taken good care of my gear, and most of it has lasted through many years of gigs, but i'm afraid parts will stop functioning, fall apart, or any other type of hardware malfunction.. So far i've had no trouble with my atlas classic hi hat stand, but one of the rubber feet did slip off very easily, even though i transport in it's original plastic cover, and then place it nice and snug in my hardware case. This stand is NOT the one with the overlapping rubber feet, but the other flat, standard rubber feet that Ludwig put on some of their classic hi hat stands..
I guess things like this are always bound to happen, and although losing a rubber foot is nothing major, it is annoying and shouldn't happen. Anyway, this will not deter me from buying the pedal, and i was simply curious as to thoughts others may have regarding the MIC aspect of some of today's finest drum manufacturers outsourcing to China for not just their cheaper products, but their high end ones as well..
