What is the meaning of the word "vintage"? Does "vintage" mean "Chinese entry level crap made 5 years ago and I want it out of my damn living room before I shell out for an Iphone 12 and no you CAN'T borrow the Mustang to go to a party"? By the way, this is the photo taken from an 3bay ad for a Vintage sea blue Ludwig drum set...Hmmmm

Those drums are not "vintage"..The term vintage means that any item, whether a musical instrument, car, "furniture" and even clothing, is over 30 years old, or at this point in our history, before the 80's.. ;) Whoever put up this ad has no clue as to what the term "vintage" means regarding drums..They see the word Ludwig on the drums, and they automatically associate the drums as being from long ago..

Those drums = Ludwig Accent drums, made in Taiwan crap, for the "discerning" beginner.

I tend to agree with you, sir, There has to be some point in time in which the term "vintage" applies. Thirty years seem quite reasonable.

But in cars they are called classic. Vintage cars are generally those from before 1950

NOPE... vintage is descriptor of when an item was produced. The term was invented for wines to describe the year the grapes were grown. Example... Vintage 2010 Napa Valley Chardonnay rates excellent.

The correct statement would be "These are vintage 2010 Taiwan Ludwig drums." Not to be confused with "1960's vintage American Ludwig drums"
