Ludwig & ludwig 1920's bass drum details?? Last viewed: 17 hours ago

That badge appears to date the drum from around the early 1930's to the start of WW2. After the war the city on the badge would be Elkhart. The white enamel badge first appears around 1933-4? There may be a date stamp inside the drum, two digits for month and two for the year.

I'm pretty sure the white badge started in 1936 with the Anniversary. There were some transitional drums like this one dated early 1936, that still had the old version.

Brass for sure. Same badge that VDF lists as 1920's. I took another pic in different lighting, should tell the truth I hope. Thanks for your help. I've yet to find any pic online of a double studded drum in this size. Haven't seen these spurs either. ?

That's bizarre. I guess you are getting a white reflection off something.

Ahh ok, the 1929 in a double stud, looks like it. The Leedy spurs are from the same era?

Glad to help! The Artists model bass drums were offered in single center post, single tension. For an extra one dollar, you could order a double post version of their Artists model bass drums. That double post, single tension model option was discontinued in 1936.

Your drum may have the Aero-Kraft five ply Super Shell. Most likely, it's a three ply Aero-Kraft version. Supposedly, the shell could withstand the weight of three men (448 LBS) standing on it. Look inside and there may be a paper label identifying it as an Aero-Kraft.

Nice drum, by the way!

Oh cool. Thanks. No paper label. It's in amazing condition. Only an eigth inch out of round. Tunes up beautifully. I'm a professional drummer and plan to play this drum as often as possible.
