I agree completely!

When you bought a set of Rogers in the mid-late 60`s that set would cost you a couple hundred $ more than the Ludwig,Slingy,Gretch competition for the same sizes of set configuration and there was a reason for that.Rogers construction speaks for itself and always will.Simply put...they were the best American drums made from that era,not to take anything away from the other companies of competition.When you bought Rogers-you bought THE best.

Did not know Rogers charged more. Thanks. Would the mid 60's be the era of when Rogers lugs seem to need all sort of repair? Or is that upset earlier?

Have a Powertone snare and a couple of prototype lug single tension toms that are fine instruments. Not found a Rogers full kit as yet.

Never been a big fan of them.. I've owned 3 kits of Rogers, Give me a stainless ludwig kit.

I can't imagine lugging around a stainless steel kit to gigs, ouch.Hurting

Goes without saying that I am a "Rigers" drum fan! Sorry JR, no malicious intent implied!, but it is kinda funny... the typo I mean! Anyway... I was going to make mention that a bunch of this is contingent on what STYLE music one is playing/performing. Rogers, as nice as they are .. ( especially so the 60's Cleveland era Beavertail models ) .. were never really known for playing the "heavier" styles of music back in the day. It was more of a jazz players drum. There ARE of course exceptions!, but generally speaking, Rogers was found and functioned in the jazz genre along with "light" rock, pop, etc. That said...

... knowing VM2K as I/we do!, the Rogers would NOT be his thing, as I think Mark's heart/style lies within the R&R genre, and especially so when one talks about Stainless Steel! Those are cannons!... thunderous!... where as Rogers are not even close. As in just about everything, ALL of this is personal taste/subjective! I'm a R&R guy myself and you're right, Ludwig took over the R&R market when The Beatles showed up. But, it could had easily been Rogers had Ringo decided he wanted a Rogers kit. No kit is going to be like a stainless steel Ludwig, just like a Bonham vistalite, but they are a one trick pony. Remember, Buddy played Ludwig for awhile, didn't sound like a "rock" kit when he played them. If you had Bonham play that same kit, it would sound totally different.
