EMD!
Great find! After a little searching, I believe the color is "Gold-Eddy". Here's a picture of the finish from a 1967 Star (Tama) catalog.

Are there any catalog pics of ten-lug 20" bass drums? From anyone, ever? Am I over-reacting here? :)
Mitch
Mitch I think you may have something there

Yes, even ten-lug 22" MIJ bass drums are rare, or rare-ish at least. But, a ten-lug 20" bass drum? Like I say I don't think I've ever seen that from any manufacturer, MIJ or otherwise....
I think it makes it look super tough and awesome!

I didn't even notice your 10-lug 20" bass drum until you mentioned it! Like others, I've NEVER seen 10-lug 20" bass drums. My Lyra kit had an 8-lug 22" bass drum, with seems to be the norm for MIJ. Yes, I really do think you have something special here!

I've got 1000's of downloaded pictures of drums from Ebay for more than 15 years. Looking in my "Majestic" folder, I found this kit...with a 10-lug 20" bass drum...and also in Gold-Eddy! The kit was offered in May, 2010, with an opening bid of $299 and ended with no takers. So, what I'm seeing is that Star (Tama) seems to have made these special bass drums when badged as "Majestic". I'll look through my other MIJ brands and see if any others show up...but I doubt it!

Another 10-lug 20" bass drum! Found this 5pc Crown kit, that I downloaded back in 2010. A very cool Blue Marble. Given that many Crown rack toms had 8 lugs, like both the 8x12 and 9x13 in this kit, I'm not surprised that the 14x20 bass drum had 10 lugs per side! Also has a matching 10-lug snare drum! This kit was offered at an opening bid of $650. As expected, no takers!

The Crown kits immediately came to mind regarding the 10 lug BDs (20in). Crown is something special in my book - specifically that blue pearl one that often comes to mind. Those Crowns had thicker hardware and many lugs on each drum. Someday.......
I hope he keeps this Majestic - quite a gem, in more ways than one. I think he is really digging it the more he learnsa bout it here....and here is the thing: he has not restored it / set it up with new heads and such yet! Oh just wait until he gets that done and starts playing it!!!
