Vintage Buddy Rich Slingerland Sticks Question

Loading...

Can anyone please tell me anything about these please?

Last year I acquired a large collection of 'new condition' old drum parts / sticks / books along with a mint 1950s AJAX and another 1960s APOLLO drum kit.

All totally time warp, like new from the shop yesterday.

Sticks and heads were in bags and boxes they were produced in etc.

My question is, are these BR sticks 1950s, 60s or perhaps even 1970s?

Thank you in advance.

Cuban!

Buddy was with Slingerland from 1968 to 1976. I have two pair Slingerland NOS/NIB BR Model sticks from that endorsement, and both have "Slingerland B.R. Buddy Rich" on them. The red ink is correct!, and there was also a blue ink model with the same inscription, but those were OAK. Buddy never played the OAK model as he preferred hickory. I have never seen the model you have here .. however .. they do look authentic. The two pair I have are early 70's model sticks. Can't really date yours as I have never seen them before, but based on what I have seen, I would think later 70's for those. Truth be told, Buddy switched over to Cappella sticks in the late 70's and they DO have the same printing as yours do here. I'll attach pics of both so you can compare.

Many thanks for the reply Tommy, very interesting.

Much of what I have (including the kits) that came from this home are items from late 1950s and early 1960s and can easily be verified, hence wondering an exact era for these.

The date search continues I guess.

Glad to know they seem rare though!

Thanks again.

Hello!

Sorry you might have misunderstood! What I was saying was that yours are most probably LATER 70's as that is the EXACT SAME printing that Cappella was using when Buddy switched over to them... but he was still with Slingerland at the time of course! And, Cappella was also making Slingerland's sticks! So...
