How Rare Last viewed: 1 day ago

I'm going to Houston Saturday to visit my mom, while I'm there I'm going to Rockin Robin to check out a Slingerland Stage Band kit. It's a WMP finish and has an 8x12 and 14x20, but what's interesting is the longer floor tom. It has the separate lugs, not the center lugs like the other two, so I know it's not a Stage Band.

The floor tom is a 15x14, is this a rare drum? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Mark, I cant help you with the value of the floor tom but I wish you best of luck. My experience with Rockin Robins is that they will only trade for rare gear, so that said, its probably not too rare if they are selling it. What ever the case yo will totally dig the place if you have never been there, tell George hello from me and have fun man!

Thank you!

Thanks Jeff, I've been going there for many years and have traded with Bart many times.

I'll try to describe the drum better, it's either a 15x14 or 16x14 with separate Slingerland lugs. The leg mounts are Rogers and I believe the interior is mahogany with three reinforcement hoops, one being in the middle.

I've seen the kit many times and the wmp matches on all the drums, but I never took the time to really examine the floor tom.

I did some research and found that Slingerland did make 16x14 Radio King floor toms with mahogany interiors and three reinforcement hoops. Could it be a Radio King floor with Rogers mounts added?

Could very well be. See if you can find out the width of the re-rings. Larger ones and having a center one generally puts it early in the time line. Chart some where on that but darned if I can find it.

Slingerland FT leg bracket would have had the stamped Slingerland Chicago inner screw mounting washers. Same as lugs just a bigger center hole. Cranked pretty hard at the factory so should have left an impression on the inner shell.

Hope of some help. Good luck!!

Nothing special here but I like them.

I seem to recall that the width of the top and bottom reinforcement hoops were maybe two inches and the middle a bit smaller.

I have a Slingerland 16 X14 FT with the post Radio King re-rings (solid maple, approx. 1") and a larger ply ring in the middle. The shell is actually two 8 X 14s and the middle ring is used to hold them together. A great sounding drum and a good substitute for a 16 X 16!

Never play it the same way once.

Would you mind showing me a picture of the interior? Thanks.
