Great production values there! Who composed the intro/title sequence? Well-done. Great to hear what Tommy's voice sounds like. I'm so used to reading him, not hearing him. :D

Thanks for posting the vid.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I've been so busy all day and FINALLY saw this thread! Excellent job, Tommyp! I feel I really missed out on so much and should have hopped a plane to see the show AND the BR snare drum display. It would have been a joy to spend time with you, Tommy! I'm most impressed!

Tommy glad your Chicago trip went well. Very sorry I missed this show. I feel it's a one of a kind display and tribute to BR we won't see often if ever again. You have gone above and beyond keep Buddy's name and history alive. Meeting Cathy and Gregg must have been a highlight. David was a great friend to help make this happen. Kudos to all.

Ken thanks for the vid!! Very cool to hear some BR facts from TP. I had no idea the Fibes 8 lug was 1 of 3 known to be out there.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

THANKS to all for the very nice comments! I want to get to a few of them, and in no particular order, so I'll start here:

Glenn!

Getting out to the Chicago Show would have been difficult, so no worries! I will say that I "may" be in contact to possibly do the CT Show next April with this display, and should that happen well... THAT would be in close enough proximity for you to make it out! Regarding the 1966/67 Fibes 8 lug 690/COF snare drum discussed in the video:

I want to mention that what I said was that drum is only one of three that HAS that particular throw/butt! The 8 lugs were STANDARD for Fibes snare drums in the beginning, and as such, there are certainly more than three out there that have 8 lugs! Again, it's this particular throw/butt that are RARE and prototypes. Because BR had one so early, his 1st model Fibes has this hardware! Of interest, Fibes used at my count, at least THREE different butt assembly's during this period! They just couldn't settle on a full production model... until the SFT throw/butt came out that we all know so well today! Here are a couple pics of the throw/butt off the drum in the collection!

As always, THANKS Glenn for your continued interest, support, and kind words!

Powertone/Jeff!

THANK YOU very much! I did put some time into the concept of HOW to display all these snare drums, and for the best/easiest way for the person looking to hopefully enjoy them. The history placards sitting on/next to each drum were the best way to tell a little about each model, and each person viewing could then read at their own pace... or not. I did see MANY, and I mean MANY people taking either pics of each drum and it's history, or video. That surprised me!, but I also thought it was great that they would want to read what I had written about each drum and how BR felt about it.

Cathy Rich and Gregg Potter both were a surprise! That was truly... unexpected. Cathy asked me if I had ever met her father. I was pleased to say that YES I had!, but it didn't start well! She laughed! I told her it ended well though, and I was able to have a nice chat with him. That was BACK in 1973!, but I remember it like it was yesterday. She was very complimentary, as was Gregg Potter. Gregg told me his favorite snare drum for playing with the Buddy Rich BB was the Ludwig Hammered Bronze. Indeed! That is a beautiful playing/sounding drum. Me being a Rogers guy first and foremost, well... I had to agree! I have gigged mine!

Hey Mark!

It was indeed a bit of work!, but... the concept had been discussed between David and myself for a while prior, so we had a good idea/plan on how to get it done, so to speak. Seeing as this was an actual historical display, Rob Cook wanted it in the common area instead of the normal exhibitor area, and it was much larger presentation in area/scope too. We figured we had to deliver! I already had the collection!, the history!, so... the rest was the actual display.

Was great to meet and chat with you Mark! Goes without saying of course, you are THE KING of Slingerland Sea Foam Green!!! Gorgeous drums Mark!
