Yes - Blair - indeed, I see the rail mount 'sausage' in the photo. I was/am so excited about all this I haven't looked in detail all the photos.

Man I saw that kit too and did a double take, but I could have sworn the listing said local pickup only, so I moved on. I'm in WA as well.

Congrats! It was a great price for all that.

Thank you. The shipping charge was grossly understated in the Shipping are of the auction. I sent an email to the seller and she said 'yes - it was a mistake.' I said I will pay whatever the real shipping cost is if I win the auction.

Maybe if more people got in on the bidding it would have sold for more...........but I would have not go down easy :) . You never know though - sometimes it just is not the right day/circumstances to get involved in an auction....for many different reasons.

She just emailed me to say she sent the last two packages today. That's 6 packages! The shipping bill will be high - it was already at $191 before these last two and that included the bass drum. She hasn't given me the total yet. I'm good with it though. Even if I have to pay $400 for the shipping and another $200 tax at Canadian Customs when I bring them into Canada I think I still came out with a fare deal at $1900usd ($2300 cdn). I would say the four drums may be worth $1800 or more (red sparkle 50's Gretsch) depending on the condition. The hardware and cases another $100 or more and I will have to see what the cymbals are - but I'm thinking at the value there is at least $250-$300.

But - to me....to have a 50's Gretsch Red Sparkle from the original owners = they're worth more than the money. I've been dreaming about a Red Sparkle Gretsch kit for a long time.

YOU! I'm vintage which is older than just plain old.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

$2400 cdn ($1930usd) is what I paid after shipping. I think I still may have gotten a good deal. They're in the mail close by now (tracking all six packages). I think I will have them home by June 3rd - I will be able to sort through all the stuff then to see what I have. kind of exciting. I know many of you here feel the same way - I can often feel the excitement in your posts - when you come into possession of a drum or drums/gear and post what you have. That's part of what is so cool about all this 'vintage' stuff - feeling it.....taking it apart....cleaning stuff (sometimes not too much)...and putting it together.

Yes - six packages...that really boosted the shipping price. But I didn't want to say anything - I was just happy to have won the drums. She was getting really stressed about packing them up.....lots going on in her life....new at eBay and for sure new at packing drums - she sounded very busy. So - she was very happy and grateful when I let her know she could take her time packing - I was not in a hurry. I even added money for a good bottle of wine (I asked her if she liked wine) - money for her trips to the post office and some money for packing materials. Always nice to have a happy 'packer'. She told me some of the drum history too - good to know.
