There are only so many vintage drum sets out there that haven`t fallen victim to the flippers and strippers and there becoming fewer all the time with money to be made in parts.Guess we can only keep so many of them safe and only for so long...

I guess if you do not sell, price to me is a number. If I see something I want bad enough, I'll pay for it. However, if I am going to spend the top dollar, I will be picky about the condition of the drum. It HAS to be good. Down the road, I plan on selling some of my collection so I am enjoying these threads & watching prices myself. My real enjoyment is the hunt & reward of playing the drum.

My policy is: If the drum is and orphan and in too bad shape I'll strip it from the parts I need or I might need in the future and the rest goes to Ebay or the VDF members that post on the wanted section. If I have two matching drums Ill keep them until I find its prodigal brothers. I've been hunting down pieces for years and oh, man! The feeling when you find those particular pieces!

Im holding on to my 65 drum sets. I won't be selling them for less of what I think they're worth. I'd say many people is doing the same and thats why theres nothing to buy unless you want to pay through the nose. Only two years ago I was buying two or even three sets a week. This year Ive only bought one so far…In the whole year!

Is this '65 drum sets or 65 as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, .......65?

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Yes, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8….up to 65…Id say 50 are complete 4 or 5 pieces with or without matching or original snare. Maybe 10 or 15 are missing one piece. (the snare or a tom). If I have 2 pieces of a set I won't count it as a set yet. I have at least another 8 of those. From the top of my mind the breakdown is 12 slingerlands, 9 rogers, 5 camcos, 2 wfl's, 15 Ludwigs, 8 Gretsch, 2 Fibes, 2 Premiers, 1 Hayman, 1 Asba, 1 Leedy/slingerland, 4 mijs, 4 Sonors…

Give or take I know the last list I made were 65…I might be a little off but Im so bad at keeping tracks…Im working on my 66 right now. A Sonor set.

Yes! Donnie (1966bmx) was here a couple of weeks ago. He saw some of the sets. The rest I have em on storage at Royal Percussion, Sunland CA. A super cool place that if you guys are around you people should swing by… Just make sure to bring a defibrillator. Literally hundreds and hundreds of drums and percussion related stuff from famous drummers on storage on a single place!

Hey Donnie! Any luck with the Mongoose BMX on CL? Maybe it wasn't vintage. Not sure.

So a related question is the best way to sell. Which makes me wonder why you gave up your website? I figure the hard part is setting up a site and taking all the pictures, but you already had that done. Did it take too much time, not enough traffic, not enough sales? If you have sets to sell (and it sounds like you do), then why not keep them listed on your website? Have you found some other way to put them on the market?

I gave up my website because my wife was taking care of it and now she's pretty busy at her college. Then the flow of sets to buy got really stuck and I though if this is here to stay Im gonna end up with no drums in a couple of years. I do have a lot of sets but I don't want to sell em yet! Maybe Ill get the site back to normal soon. I don't know. Im waiting for the summer to reveal what this weird time its about. In the previous summers there was plenty of sets to buy and everything was kinda "normal" because people moves and clean their garages on summer so I want to see what this one is going to bring. If it stays like this it maybe will indicated that the river its been dragged and we have a drought. Hopefully not!
