I believe those may be Slingerland.
Thanks - They came with in a bag with this 18" Slingerland floor tom. The resonant metal hoop was missing. The owner of the second-hand shop where I bought the drum said these parts came to him with the drum - he thought these went with the floor tom.....of course they don't. They might be from the bass drum that went with that kit. I have 10 claws and 8 t-rods (there are only 4 washers). They're in very good condition - the t-rods have a bit of rust/stain here and there.
If anyone here knows anyone that is interested - $20usd + shipping...........
Slingerland did make some floor toms that could be used standing up as a tom or laying down as a bass drum and those had a metal hoop on the top/front and a wood hoop on the bottom/batter. Are you 100% sure those might not go with your new tom?
I'm not sure about anything with this drum - I'm learning more everyday - thanks. If it did have a wood hoop it seems to be long gone. I will hang only these tension rods and claws just in case. Thanks for the information.
Cleaned all the hardware - the Denim is hard to clean in some areas - kind of like the oil n' gasoline stains on your favourite jeans. I washed it down pretty good with Dawn liquid soap after I removed all the hardware except the badge of course. The chrome cleaned up good - just used household cleaning vinegar and some dw40 here and there.
I don't know if this head is the original - it is old - but it sounds very good on this drum...easy to tune. I like it. I can't use unless I do a little repair job on 2 of the 4 leg supports.
Denim finish puts it in the 70's so it probably wasn't one of the convertible types I mentioned, which were more of a late 50's early 60's thing...but then you never know...
How did the conversion to a bass drum work? I have the four leg mounts but there is no provision within this mount to accommodate a bass drum spur. Maybe with the convertible type of floor tom there was spur-type supports (two) that came with the kit so you could switch the tom supports for them - to have your bass drum. Cool idea! Thanks for the photo. I can't see how the bass drum is supported in that photo.
Yes they are not pictured there... But in some catalogues the spurs are listed as an option. They were hoop mount spurs which were fitted on to the rear "wooden hoop"..
Cheers
John
Cool - I have some Hoop Mounted spurs and I can use my wood hoop from my 2011 18 Gretsch bass drum. I'll see if I can get it up and running - just to see it work.
