You skipped church for 13 years and still got them to give you a free vintage Rogers kit?

What religion is that? Sign me up!

Haha! Still friends with a lot of people there. They're really turning out nice. They were missing a bunch of tension rods so I'm going to replace all of them with new ones and keep the old ones around incase I ever want to sell it and that's important to the buyer.

Putting coated ambassadors on all the tops, clear ambassadors on the bottoms, super kick 1 as the batter and a white smooth ambassador on the front. I really want to get a vintage tone out of this kit as I have a spaun kit for more of a "perfect" tone. Think Death Cab For Cutie "Summer Skin" drum tone.

You have a fantastic set of Rogers in Champagne Sparkle(my fav. wrap) and for a price that most of us on here can only dream of... Thank God they were kept safe for all these years in the church closet as that`s what has preserved them. You are the caretaker now so enjoy all the wonder those drums can give you and please keep them safe.In time you`ll fall in love with them...

Nice acquisition on the drums Eric. Consider a small donation at some juncture to defray another church cost though! On the 13 toms, having two 13's is not terribly usual, though the 12 on the left was more common. Bobby Colomby of B&ST was a user of equal size toms and eventually moved up from twin 12's to twin 13's.

Wayne, didn't you advise that 13 toms were more normally supplied in Canada during that time period, and aren't yours twin 13's?

That's a Rogers Londoner outfit, first shown in the 1967 catalog. It was shown with a 20-12-13-16 layout, but any sizes were optional on the bass or toms. A phone call from the dealer to the plant and it was done....

As mentioned above, crossout tags are not unusual. The Holiday tag is from '68, as stated above, and the other tags are pretty close together, which tels me that this kit probably came all together as you have it.

Nice that you have the original t-bar and tom arms, those can be expensive to replace.

Not unheard of to see replacement leg mounts on there: some guys got frustrated with having to use a key to set the legs, and if the keybolt tops got rounded off over time more frustration would set in and cause a replacement - especially after Rogers was gone and replacements keybolts were not available.

Easy enough to replace those mounts with originals, but the legs/mounts can be a little pricey. An extra hole will be visible with the originals in place, but still worth the change back...

A very nice kit...

As a couple of the members have already mentioned,it wasn`t unusual to have two 13"toms back then. And in Canada in 1967 you could only get 13`s in that colour,no 12`s to be had.I ordered my Rogers Champagne sparkle set in 67` and it came with two 13`s,then i added on to the set a year later with two more 13`s, as there were still no 12`s to be found in Ontario.I love my 13`s(all 4 of em`)-great tuning range!!! Eric, enjoy those drums, they`ll serve you well...

I understand that the Rogers toms could be tuned very well so even if the toms were the same size they would tune differently.

That is correct, as the tuning range of Rogers 13`s is fantastic.I have no problem tuning my four 13`s to sound like a range of 10,12,13,14 and even 15, but that`s a little tricky in that low of a tuning range.Amazing tonal frequency with that beautiful Rogers sound.
