once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Gary, they sure did and it will always be a very good memory, that was my first visit to the Chicago show and not only did I get meet you and play those awesome drums, that was the year I got o meet Jerry and Greg from Jenkins Martin company and play their new drums. I will be back again this year and sure hope we can butt heads again.
Thank you!

Jeff - Next kit should be an all-fiberglass kit! Keep your eyes open for Blaemires, a J&M kit or even a Vistalite set. I have a feeling the sound you're digging is coming from the fiberglass shells. Fiberglass drums are powerful sounding drums. Enjoy them! Great sizes.John
John, I sure would love to have a Blaemire kit, as mentioned above I have played them every year at the Chicago show and just love the sound. So, you might be on to something here!
PS, did score the prototype snare from Jerry that he got from Allen Blaemire, cant wait to get it. Also cant wait to talk to Greg at the show and find out a little more about this drum. I told my band members all about it and they were really interested in it.
Thank you!

Took me almost 5 years to find a set of Blaemires and then I had to have them shipped across the country from Cali. J&M's are the modern version and the real-deal I might add sound-wise. You'll already have the snare, getting a J&M 3 piece to go with it is much more do-able and easier than tracking down a kit built by Allen. 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other, having J&M's is the same as having Blaemires. In fact, Jerry uses Allens equipment to build his shells! The only difference in the drums would be the maker, the tubs themselves are the same.
John
Many years ago I had a pre-Martin set of Fibes, all chrome, with the snare, 13,16,22.
*sigh*
Some of those Green Glass tubs are on my "must have" list too one day. I love the look of the Blaemire spun shells. The new J-M shell colors and options really broaden the anything is possible realm. Like the "Starry Night" shells for example. That snare was a cool buy Jeff. I was looking at all those too. They all sold fast!!
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
