Ive had this Black Galaxy Acrolite (Blacro) for several years. This closet queen is in great condition. Has not even been detailed in these pics. But i will detail it before shipping. Its a 5x14 8 lug model. Is all original with the exception of heads. Has a new Ludwig snare side head and a recently installed Evans G1 Level 360 Batter head. P85 strainer is very smooth. Has p32 block logo snare butt. Has original straps for the wires. I will be glad to install and/or include new Ludwig orange cords if you like. Round knob muffler works perfectly. Has the original 20 strand Ludwig script logo snare wires. Serial number is 6279960. Sounds and looks great. Please pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.

Wow, it's been awhile since you've sold an Acro. There was a time last year where I was thinking that your home most be full of them :)

My favorite snare and your best buy all around. No drummer should be without one.

Larry

Youre exactly right! I still have quite a few. These are great drums.

Same shell as the Supra.

One of them is sitting in my drum area! I bought my 60's keystone acro from Mike and it is one of the sharpest looking acro's I've ever owned. I'll never sell this one. Anybody who buys a drum from Mike is going to get exactly what is described and it'll be clean as a whistle and ready to play right out of the box. Mikey is my ace-coon-boon. The BEST. Bar none.

Buy with complete confidence...

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Hi Mike!

$125 for your drum sounds like a great price to me! I've had a handful of Acrolite/Blackrolite snare drums from the late 60's (Standard Acrolite), early 70's and the Galaxy Sparkle years and each sounded great...until I got one, wearing serial number 6232006, which is very close to the drum you are offering. My drum NEVER sounded good and I finally found out why; the snare beds were pressed in the wrong place in relation to the strainer and butt! I'm attaching pictures, so you can see where the snare bed is (long blue tape) and where it should be (small blue tape). You should be able to clearly see the bed. I recently transferred all the parts to a Worldmax Black Dawg NOB 5x14 shell. Wow, sounds great and it's like having a Black Beauty on the cheap! I'm considering sending my shell to Randy Wagers at Ludwig, so he can show it to QC as what should not pass inspection!

Hope you sell your snare!

Mark

Thanks for the heads up Mark. That's pretty wild. Mine appears to have been done properly. I would assume that your drum was drilled improperly at the factory Since the snare beds on acros and supras haven't been crimped since the early 60's, the shell should have the beds already made into it, I assume. The snare beds on acros and supras are super shallow, so I could see how it could happen. That's a strange one! I collect oddities if you never find a need for that shell.
