Ludwig hex keys, wrenches and mij hex keys Last viewed: 15 hours ago
bumpin' up. lots of interest but all flakes, so they're still avail.
Just an FYI, for those Ludwig Hex Keys, the threading size of the nut is 5/16" but the actual wrench (hex key) size is 7/16". A 7/16" wrench normally fits 1/4" nuts, so these are special nuts.

Do you know where I can find a ludwig 7/16" wrench? I'm not sure how to find out the correct size and anything I see listed just has a part# or says "standard" which I suppose is standard today, not for old kits. Thanks in advance!
To the best of my knowledge, all the Ludwig wrenches (or modern reproductions) are all 7/16".
Again, just to be clear, a 7/16" wrench (including the Ludwigs) will fit any regular, normal 1/4" internal threading nut, or a special Ludwig 5/16" internal threading nut. The Ludwig nuts that were used on tom holders, cymbal brackets etc. were 5/16" internal threading, but were a slimmer outside profile than a normal 5/16" nut, so it fits in a 7/16" wrench size (normal, regular 5/16" nuts use a 1/2" wrench size).
You can get "modern" Ludwig low profile 5/16" internal threaded nuts today on ebay and the like, and they all fit the vintage (or modern re-pros) 7/16" wrench size. My guess is, they are 5/16" coupling nuts that are cut in half (coupling nuts are "skinnier" than regular nuts).
