I like everything you're doing. Keep it up! This one definitely has some personality. That's a good thing!

Thanks Randy I agree. Glad I decided not to wrap or veneer...a lot quicker and easier too!
FT today but feeling pretty lazy heh
So, floor tom. I only have two BB mufflers so one is going on the Pioneer when that's rehabbed. Nice black carriage bolt fits the bill [hole].
Considering whether to get some washers for the BD spur mounts or just plug them since I'll be using clip-on spurs anyway...
I guess I'll start on that Pioneer while I wait for some FT and BD rods to mysteriously appear in the kitchen.
Mitch, your gonna love these drums. Ever owned a clubdate kit before?
Thank you!

I haven't Jeff, really looking forward to getting these all together and having a wail!
Next up, Pioneer snare with nickel hardware rehab. [more black paint removal ugh]
Thanks for all the good words of encouragement so far guys! It really helps! Have a great Christmas and see you on the flip side...

Thank you Jeff, and Merry Christmas to you too!
On Wednesday I called a place in RI which advertised vintage Ludwig parts for sale. I found it by putting "vintage ludwig parts for sale" into google.
Well. Have you ever been on the phone with a guy while he goes through the parts bins for you? That's what happened. I ordered 6 tension rods for the floor tom, and, for the BD spur and cymbal arm mounts, 3 inner washers with star [locking] washers, and 2 "cup" outer washers, for a total of $30 USD. I think that's pretty good.
So now all I need are the 8 BD trods and claws. Meanwhile I decided to try the MIJ workaround and it seems to work okay for now.
Pics to come...
Mitch
BD rods and claws arrived yesterday from ee_curtis. They are like new, so the ones that came with the kit go on the batter side heh. Thank you Eric!
FT rods and some miscellaneous bits sourced from these guys [mentioned in John's W&A thread], they're the best, Jerry, the best!

Now it's on to the Pioneer snare, covered in a thick luxurious layer of "Previous Owner Black". It's maple under there and has nickel hardware so it should be nice. Plus I can't really sell it cuz of the "lug shuffle". That's for the best as it will be nice to have one wood, one metal snare.
Pics of the finished kit. I'm calling the finish "scarred mahogany". Couldn't wait to mount that cowbell on the rail lol.
I really like what you did with this kit. Keeping the original outer ply even with the chunks missing is really pretty cool, it still original! And the cow bell on the rail mount is a great idea. Love the name too! Good job sir!
Thank you!
