Slingerland Blue Satin Flame Drums Last viewed: 43 minutes ago

I put the tom on a snare stand instead of using the double tom arm because it puts the tom over to my left a bit more, which is where I like it, plus I think it looks cooler.

One day I'll find a single tom arm, but they are pricey and I haven't seen any on ebay lately.

Congrats on a beautiful set. Funny that you prefer the tom further out to the left. I gig with a setomatic mounted tom but I prefer to use the double mount so I can get the tom over to the right more. You do have an inch or two leeway with the double mount.

Howie in your zest to rant did you look at the pic of the kit? Marks kit is a 70's kit. But yet in the 1965 Slingerland catalog the jet kit # 20 N is Factory supplied with a snare drum stand to mount the mounted tom on. :) Here is another dig at ya brother that is a virgin bass drum also. and the company is Slingerland not slingy !! :) Just ribbing ya ! http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1964_slingerland_6.jpg

That "virgin" bass drum sure has an interesting Set-O-Matic "beauty mark" located top center. I apprecuate the kidding. But, that is definitely no virgin bass drum.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

It's not a "virgin" bass drum, I do have the double tom arm, it's right there in the picture, I just prefer the tom on a snare stand.

I always think about that Jet ad every time someone says that using a snare stand is not vintage .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Yeah, I'd never seen that before. Kind of amazing..."foreshadowing"!

We all have opinions. My opinion has always been to not like my smaller left side tom on a snare stand. Slingerland showed that in catalogs in years when I bought new Slingerland drum sets with 20-12-14 (or16)configurations. That option never appealed to me then or ever since. If you like it, that's your choice.

Either way works for me, but lately I 've been using a snare stand.
