You will probably become a Rogers enthusiast. If you insist on not using the best tom mounting hardware on a bass drum that was ever invented, you are left with the absolute best cymbal mount on a bass drum that was ever invented.
Guess I've joined the Rogers club...
larryz: Yeah, I guess that isn't the most popular wrap. I really didn't like it when they were first out. I guess it will grow on me though! lol
DownTown: Well worth it. I'd goofed off with a couple old Rogers kits a long time ago, but that's it - goofed off. They weren't mine, and I spent maybe a total of thirty minutes on both.
Sanity: Thanks!
FFR428: Hey! Thanks! How ya been?
leedybdp: HA! Well, yeah... that is indeed my plan. I've normally used an eight or ten in splash on the BD tom mount - just to tick a guitar player off! A while back, a guitar player in a band I was in briefly told me he hated splash cymbals. So, of course I stuck one on the BD and used it as much as possible. I was only filling in for an injured drummer, so didn't really give a rats butt what they thought. They asked me to help 'em out, then told me I had to emulate their injured drummer exactly - and gave me recordings of they fellow. I didn't last long, two gigs if I remember correctly. I found them a 'pliable' replacement drummer and bailed. Later, I found out that the drummer I was replacing wasn't really injured, just gone. He'd bowed out with notice, but they chose to lie to me. Oh well... that bands been history for years, as it should be. So yeah... splash cymbal holder is the future for the post.
I am a fan of the KOA and the Butcher block kits and it looks like you found a nice one in great sizes. As others have warned, these Rogers kits are addicting! Nice find!

Freakin hilarious dude!
Honestly when I see pictures of Rogers shell interiors on Ebay it puts me in mind of a crib you'd build with love for a child. The build quality jumps out. They weren't fooling around. From my experience that results in a huge tuning range - no "barking" spots. Enjoy that, my contrary friend.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, these are keepers. Actually, these make me feel kinda dumb... I've always attempted to get the best sounding drums I could (Well, there are the Standard's, I just like them). I could not tell you why it took me this long to really examine these. Glad I finally did though!

In my case the reasons were three - Bonham played Ludwig :), I simply was unaware of the superior quality, and I never liked the Rogers BT casings.
Well, now I've grown past the Bonham fixation, I got a long-overdue education from a local Rogers guru, and while I still don't love the lug design, the overall quality really softens that aesthetic quibble.
Rogers! :)

Welcome to the Rogers Club! I just scored another haul of Rogers gear from a complete delight of a drummer that I had the pleasure of meeting last night. It is going to be a fun time to get everything cleaned up and back to fightin' shape.
I was lusting after a new Ludwig kit but these babies just sound better than any other drums to me.

DownTown: I'm so new to these I really don't know all the nuances about the lug stuff... sure, heard for years (and saw) how some of the lugs cracked and how the later cast swivo bits split. Anybody who has been around for more than fifteen minutes knows this stuff. I just pretty much ignored 'em - with no real decent reason.
I don't know anyone that's played 'em forever, and the folks that had Rogers stuff - I just never did get around to asking about them.
Ignorance was truly bliss.
Oh well, remedied now.
King Louie: Regardless of the brand, I always like to hear about a pile of 'stuff' that gets saved for the future. Good on ya!
