You could try some foil tape around the shaft of the drum clip and re-insert it. You may have to separate the clip for the shaft a little not to tear it. It's kind of trial and error for a solution and your original ideas were good too. Of course you'd have to make sure the tom is exactly where you want it if welding. You could even try welding a small nub or two (where it's hidden under the clip) on the drum clip shaft, file it down so it fits real tight in the clip before re-tightening.

Olimpass I think we're talking about just the spade being loose on the end of the short rod in your pic. That is, not where the rod is clamped in the clip.

Theoretically, with the right "X" tipped chisel, a solidly mounted vice, and a big enough hammer, you could expand the end of the rod in the spade. might just explode though...

Good point - the chisel must have a convex tip, not flat! As for the "X", obviously you could just use the chisel oriented in the two directions...lol didn't think of that.

If welding is used, any excess must be ground off the face of the spade facing the tom, otherwise you could scratch the tom when mounting/removing.

This is an interesting issue - if you've ever tried lifting a tom by hand with just the spade assembly, the leverage involved makes it seem 4 times heavier...

Thought of another way that might work...possible option?

While in the vise, just drill a hole into the center and into the shaft, tap it and use a bolt with a lock washer. Long as it wouldn't interfere with mounting the drum. If the peening doesn't work.

IMO, the epoxy or glue would only be a temp fix until it cracks loose again.

You should really try peening it or get it welded even better. Long as it wouldn't cost more than a new part.
