It's a movie. Yes, it will make you angry. The ending is worth it. Just go see it!

When he slapped me, I would have simply kicked his ars. He would not of had time do anything but blow red bubbles, while he was sleeping.

Think I just saw a promo for this movie while watching Jimmie Kimmel. I was taken back slightly realizing the star of the movie was Bubba from the Footloose remake, but that unfortunate event aside, I will watch it....LOL.

Life is full of struggles and we`ve all had our share and i`m sure we have all suffered this delema in one form or another. One thing to remember is to keep focussed on the task at hand and learn how to deal with it.Some of us may walk away and some will stay the agony of it to the end.I`m not saying "military sargent teaching" is the way to go, but i somehow feel when i see this movie it will make me be able to tolerate that style of teaching a little more without wanting to rip out the instructors throat. The hard and soft parts of life in learning are a never ending scenario...

Saw this tonight, absolutely loved it. Had the cinema all to myself :D Heres my two cents worth on it:

I get the message the teacher was trying to send but he was way overboard and I definitely would have sent him flying the second he slapped me :) What I liked was that none of the characters were likeable and that the message wasnt exactly black and white. It seemed weird though that those 2 jocks at the family dinner made the most sense when they said something like "but isnt music supposed to be subjective?" Also I think it was on the Andrews wall, there was a poster that said Those without ability end up playing Rock. What a pompous little ****.

From Purdie Shuffle

They should have named it: Buddy Rich... The Teaching Years! The trailer sounds like the Buddy Rich bus tape. If anybody had ever treated me that way when I was a youngster I would have slashed his tires and hired a gang of Asian organ thieves to harvest his kidneys. What an A-hole!John

John....you've outdone yourself.....I'm still laughing, because I'm a NY street kid like you, and we usually get our pound of flesh.Agreed, the guy is a class a douch nozzle, and needs a corrective interview with a blow tourch,a pair of pliars and a 20 ounce claw hammer.LOL

I saw a kid get knocked out cold from being beaned in the temple by a very hard-hit Spaldine! Kid went down like Madonna! LOL

I never got one to go three... two I could do, three was for the more athletic guys. You really have to hit the ball hard to get it to go three.

Judgment before seeing the movie: If your task is do or die, as in the Marine Corps or similar units, there may be some justification for teaching in this fashion. Other than that, I see it as masochistic. If the opportunity arises, I will see it and reconsider my current view afterward. However, I doubt that some of the great teachers like Stone ever applied any sort of abuse. They would have said practice in extremely high volumes and lots of play in real situations was your best road to success on the drums.
