That is the "Bowling Ball" version of Black Oyster Pearl from the not so great period in Ludwig drum making in the 70's.

3 ply clear interior shells!! well that is your opinion Howie I certainly don't agree with you at all.
It's the Ludwig cosmetics that I'm referring to as not so great...Then, in the late 70's / early 80's the dreadful rivets at the wrap seams made for some really fuggly drums.
Yeah that is post 1970 version of Oyster Black Pearl. Ludwig never changed the swatch they showed in their catalogs but after around mid 1969/early 1970 if you ordered that finish this is what you got. Drum collectors have nicknamed this version of the wrap (and the similarly opaque oyster blue) "bowling ball" for obvious reasons.
