robyn - The heads are not originals, but they are new/old stock REMOs. I completely detailed and then tuned the drum for you before I shipped it out. I wanted to make sure it was ready to rock right out of the box. You can swap out the heads if you want to, but the ones on there are new and have a ton of life in them. Your drum... your call.NOS Ludwig heads (the original Ludwig heads) are hard to find, but if you look around you may come up with a set.John

Thanks john, you did a great job on the snare, it is perfect just as it is. I was just cuious about the heads just incase i do need to replace them. I rocked out on it all day right out of the box. Im at work now or id still be rockin it.

Cant thank you enough for all you have done for me.

Robyn, I love your optimistic view on a completed collection. It should read"I now have matching snares with all my kits. My collection is completed...for now!"

Yeah you are probly right. As much as i keep telling myself "im not buying any more drums" then something shows up and i gotta have it. As for now, i cant think of any other drum i gotta have, but would like to have more cymbals and stands.

The original heads would have been Ludwig weathermaster Robyn. They would have the older script logo and not the newer boxy style lettering. They also would be marked batter and snare side.Ludwig still makes weathermasters, but the logo is more updated, but like John said, the vintage ones do come up for sale on ebay on occasion.Again ,great looking kit.

Hmm not a bad price either. Have you ever used these? Wonder if they are like the originals? Wonder if they would make the snare for my tie dye kit sound similar to the jfest. It is a 60s star w/rerings.

robyn - It's a Ludwig company reissue... for all intents and purposes it is identical to the old heads. Right down to the logo. Vintage reissues can be sketchy at times, but not with Ludwig I don't think. I'm sure they wouldn't misrepresent any part of their product line.

If it says, 'reissue' I would take them at their word until proven otherwise. Yep, $14.00 seems like a decent price. I may order a couple for myself. There are also snare side heads available!

I don't know if one of these heads will make your MIJ snare sound better, I just know they're the best heads to use on Ludwig drums. Especially the metal drums. Ludwig drums, more often than not, sound better with Ludwig heads on them. That's a fact.

I don't have an immediate need to buy heads, I have plenty of stock in-house. If you really want a set of heads for the MIJ snare you should go ahead and order. Don't wait on me, with all the sizes I already have in stock it may be awhile before I need to buy more heads. I usually wait until I'm almost out of heads and then I'll do a bulk order to save money.
