I have a Yamaha 1980's Style badge Black wood snare. Model S0098 Ser# NM0469. It's 8x14 and the interior finish is natural it has 10 lugs.I have had it since the 1980's and was wondering what it may be worth. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!

That's a SD098 RECORDING CUSTOM 8x14 Piano Black snare. Depending on issues, such as the painted lacquer finish & the troublesome hoops flaking quite often, I'd estimate the range to be $250 - 400.

I'd buy it off you depending on condition - but in the $250 range - Chris

The condition is great...no flaking or any damage to the finish...thanks for clarifying the Model number..my eyes aren't what they used to be 0 and D look similar!! For $250 I'd rather just keep it. Thanks!!

No prob. Like I need another. You'd expect a RC snare to sell for more, right. Hit ebay & you'll see what they're going for. Piano black is the most common color so they sell for less than, say, cherry.

Keep it just for the beauty alone - c

$400 RC piano black - no, not so easy. It would have to be spotless. In fact, RTC (90's versions) snares sell for more the RC snares - go figure. Could be wrong, but the RTC snares are less common, hence more expensive.

Enjoy the snare as it has that priceless sentimental value worth far more than the $ you'd get for it.

I have one exactly the same snare killa sounding snare its a recording custom.

I play it with a 26" ludwig bass drum and sounds great.

I hear ya. I would keep it also.

A cherry colored one just finished on eBay for $420.00 but it took the seller three tries to get that. Plus he removed the reserve.
