think it ended in 68 for the most part chris. also about the same time that the 3ply clear maple interior shells appeared.

So, bought a 3-piece kit in the 482700 range, rack I think stamped March 1 1967. Rack does NOT follow into plies but cuts off like you'd expect later Ludwig 60's drums to do; the BD & FT wraps lip under the plies a bit.
Another fab ebay buy where "factory floor condition" was claimed. I've had more than a few of these precise buys lately. Anyone else experiencing this sort of $hit?
ebay seems to not care a whole he(ll) of a lot when there's a vast discrepancy between seller descriptions & in-the-flesh goods.
Thanks again for input all - Chris
There's really no exact date when the wrap stopped going into the scarf joint. 67-68 is my guess.
do you think its a rewrap chris, or original? are they white interiors or what?

Mike, BEC - thanks.
This one's going back to seller as it's got serious issues & that's why I was looking into the wrap in the 1st place. Seller claimed "'67 factory condition" - WTF is with these sellers?!?
Sorry to be complaining. Extremely frustrating - c
"WTF is with these sellers?" They simply are not fully knowledgable about the drums they are selling, and they don't bother to drop by the VDF to ask the experts a few questions. I'll bet this seller looked at the kit, saw how shiney and clean it was, didn't see any damage, and based his assessment of "factory condition" on the visuals alone. What does your average drummer know about pre-1968 wraps and scarf joints?
I'd like to sell him my "factory condition" 1967 Mercedes 250S. It looks mint; it just doesn't run.

The problemo w/ ebay is they do not care about such discrepancies as they leave it up to buyer/seller to duke it out ... so they have no real skin in the game. T/ is @ my only gripe w/ ebay.
Seller knew as he was the one to detail the kit. When the listing says ZERO is wrong w/ the '67 kit you're led to believe t/ bidding on it is a confident endeavor.
He'll be refunding everything & paying for return shipping - $200+ loss on the moron's part for stupidly claiming immaculate condition.

Mike that sounds like a nice Mercedes you have there! I had a 1970 280S. It was a beautiful ride but man it was also a money pit~! Straight 6 with dual carbs. Freshly tuned it ran like a Swiss watch but when she got out of sorts..... uggggg! Mine was $hit brown with tan leather interior. I always wanted a 280C or 300SEL. Sorry to go OT here fellas.

I am the original owner of a 1967 ( October 67 stamps ) Ludwig Super Classic set and the covering follows into the ply on all drums .
