Likely original. If you take a real good look at the drilling for the mounts and the shade of the finish under the mounts, you can tell

Say you have the matching snare back there!

And who needs a floor tom anyway, right, ha

Really nice kit

Nice drums. My 16" WMP floor tom you were looking at was made in the Spring of 1965.

Are you asking about the cymbal mount by the mounted tom?

I don't recall any of the cataloged sets from that era having an extra mount but then the catalog sets are just the tip of the iceberg as far as what you could get the factory to do. Buddy Rich used an extra cymbal mount there so it's not a big stretch to imagine someone ordering their new drums set up in that way from the factory, or having their dealer install the extra cymbal arm bracket.

Rogers, Gretsch, and Slingerland all did show sets in their catalog with a cymbal arm in that position so it's a bit odd that Ludwig didn't, but certainly not hard to imagine the original purchaser asking for it.

It should have the older style mounting bracket like shown in your picture (and below) or the holes for such a bracket. If it's the later style then it was obviously added on sometime later on (post 1962).

Have one with two cymbal mounts, but my tom mount is centered on top between the two lugs. I had figured that they could sell it for a left or right hand player....just a guess though, but 100% factory/dealer original.

From the pictures I saw it looked like you had 3 holes in your shell. Perhaps at somepoint it was a factory cymbal mount but I don't believe with those older style mounts that they required 3 holes....not 100% certain about that though.

I noticed that the middle one is not a hole only cut into the wrap and the other mount has something in the middle that cuts into the wrap as well the guy said he had the mount that came with the kit and is going to let me know if he finds it.

Are all the tom mounts in this position or do they varry
