Two gigs in a row! Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Yesterday was a great day for gigs. I did my sesison work for Dylan at the Raleigh pride fest:

Then later in the day I had a gig with Spiralfire at a large local park. It was a little hard for me because they had the backline setup very strange. The drums were behind the amps, no monitors and I didn't have my in ears. Bass player moved his amp back but I struggled to hear anything.

After playing my Sonor kit it was hard to sit behind a DW kit. My Sonor kits have a sound that I like - much like my vintage kits. The DW kits I have played did not sound anything special.

If I had to buy a "modern" US made kit it would be a Gretsch USA custom or Ludwig in a vintage build out OR an Anchor drums kit. Those kits have the soul I look for in a kit.

On the second gig my daughter kept trying to run up onto the stage :) I think she will play drums also!

That sounds like a great day indeed.

I too am very interested in Anchor Drums. I keep trying to find artists to tie in an endorsement with artists that might fit Shawn's design aesthetic.

Cool! I love those 2 gigs a day. Looks like you had fun. It'd be cool if your daughter took up drums too.

Yes lesson learned! For the record my Clubdate would have been perfect for gig number two. Other than my two Sonor kits I don't like 22x18 Bass drums. The DW kit just felt so strange.

I plan on getting my daughter her first kit in a few days just in time for her second birthday Yes Sir
