The holes are:
1 and 3/8" apart (Imperial)
3.5 cm apart (Metric)
I'm digging around but haven't been able to get to a definitive answer.
Many thanks - J

they are different.
the p83,p85 and p86 share the same hole pattern.

I don't have metric measurements, but I have these written down:
p83 2.5" hole to hole
p87 2.0" hole to hole

Hi !
I measured, agree with Mike...
P83; P85 & P86 = 2,5" or 6,35 cm center hole to center hole

Thanks a lot for the quick replies guys. Very strange but I measured the holes from the P87 I took off the drum and they measured as stated in my original post. I'm wondering because I may need to swap the throwoff out if I can't find snares to fit and I want to be playing this drum. (The snares are worn out.) What will fit that will be small and light and reasonably period correct?
I should mention it's for a a 61/2 X 14 William F. Ludwig Ray McKinley Super Classic, WFL badge, the 1948 - 1952 range. It was rewrapped when I got it, which may or not be relevant, depending on your perspective. It's a deadly sounding drum.

I had the same problem with my super classic. I poked a hole in the plastic strap and screwed it to the P-87, works great and sounds fantastic.

Thanks Cam, appreciate you posting. It actually looks like the snares will seat nicely on the head, good balance between each bearing edge.
