A couple of Kent snares Last viewed: 1 hour ago

So thanks to another forum member (Donnie) I am now hooked on Kent drums. I found a rare 8 lugger for him at an antique store a while back. At the time I didn't need a project drum nor did I know much about Kent drums.

I have since had a few nice vintage snares and have an idea of what to expect. I have to say that some features on the Kent snares were really nice. Quality control is not always perfect but the snare beds on my two examples are more pronounced then my Ludwig Pioneer or Jazzfest.

Also for the six lug snares I think the design that Kent used for hoops was nicer than Ludwig. The design of the hoops specifically at the tabs were the tension rods are I believe would take more pressure vs. the standard triple flange design (at this point).

The blue sparkle is in absolute museum quality while the gold sparkle just needs some cleaning. Both are 100% original. I am looking forward to throwing some new heads on them both and seeing how they sound.

While I really didn't want to move one of my snares from my collection (my Pioneer) I am more than pleased with these two additions and don't feel lacking in any way.

Kents are cool. It really hard to find them with their foil badge in even decent condition, one of yours looks mint!

Here is a set in Cleveland, snare is missing original strainer and butt and has extra holes, other than that it's not too bad. Paper badge is gone with just a little around the grommet.

Nice snare drums! I got lucky one day and found a Kent kit for 15.00. The floor tom was missing but I found one after two years of looking, paid 200 for it. So now I have a complete kit with 215.00 invested. It is blue sparkle just like your snare, but mine is an 8 lugger. Two years ago the Kents were not getting much attention on this forum (unless I missed it) but lately there have been Kent threads popping up. I really need to set mine up and get some pics posted. They were made in a fast sloppy manner, messy glue in the shells, poor edges and Tom is correct about the problematic strainer. But they are still American made (mine are) and a cool piece of drum history.

I need one bass drum t-rod and claw for mine and possibly spurs but I would have to check on that.

Yes give us some eye candy. I'm always waiting for missing pieces to complete my tangerine/gold sparkle kit.

And what is with Kent and the whole glue issue? Like little kids playing with glue and getting all messy :)

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..
