This is my Camco Renaissance Series extremely rare and collectable. I called up Steve Maxwell’s drum shop in New York since they have Elvin Jones Camco kit. They didn’t know much about them but have the Camco catalog and they are listed in there as Renaissance Series and came in two colors. Thanks to a blog posting I found two articles in 1979 Modern Drummer magazine that confirm what I am writing here.

These are 6 ply North American Maple, American made in Pennsylvania. These drums do not have reinforcement rings very high quality and sound as good as my DW Collectors Kit. The marquetry inlay on these drum are beautiful and true works of Art. Chrome near perfect has no pitting or rust. Overall condition 9 out of 10. Currently for sale. Heading for Ebay soon unless someone wants them. Enjoy!

IMO those are the only Hoshino made Camcos worth having from a collectible stand point

Yeah... I have seen these pop up on eBay from time to time, but you're right, these are a bit beyond scarce, and entering the rare category.

When you do your eBay description, you may want to add the drum sizes to your in depth spiel.

As many of you know I have a sunburst set of these and I just love them.

So much so I bought another sunburst set when it came up. The build quality and sound of this era of drums is awesome. It goes well with my "real" Oaklawn and LA Camco kits and and makes a nice final chapter to the Camco saga, for me.

I love the inlay on this model and is very unique and scarce. Would love to have them but a little over Camco'd right now with 6 kits, but maybe.

Thanks guys, they are 22, 16, 13, 12 standard depths. Here is an inside pic of the Bass drum. Nopork is correct the quality and sound are very high quality. Not a lesser Camco in anyway. Wasn't sure how much I liked the lugs till I saw them in person, they very cool looking.

Thanks mariosdrums. Craviotto does some beautiful inlay, prices for his kits are intense. Tama actually made snare series called art wood with exact inlay on my kit. Here a close up of the inlay and the Tama snare, no I don't own it wish I did though. Here are the two articles from 1979 Modern Drummer. The one from Oct-Nov is about the Namm Show. Cool history...Enjoy!
