From OddBall

When you hear those double pedal or double beater going really really fast, they are moving their feet 1/2" to an inch at the most. That`s how I learned it. A SK has a wide range for adjusting. Sit on the throne and tap both feet really fast raising them up all the way, then do it only raising your feet 1/2" or an inch. You go faster with less movement. That`s the range of a footboard adjustment. Also if the knuckle in the front that holds the beater is too high, it has a chance to scrape the head. That means it returns too far back.

Hey I think I understand this. I will try it tomorrow when my wife is not sleeping, thank you!

Thank you!

Jeff...im glad my thread was helpful for you. I too have a hard time playing with my heel down. It feels very uncomfortable and messes me up alot. It is just easier toe tapping and feels more natural for me. I do try to practice heel down from time to time just so i can say i've tried.

OddBall...thanks for the helpful info, will keep it all in mind.

It`s like driving Robyn, you have your heel down on the gas and brake because they are shorter and more controlled movements. Unless you`re driving Farmtruck or something you don`t slam that gas pedal down, and if you`re squeezing into a parking spot, you don`t jam the brake down. But when using the full range of the clutch pedal, you have your heel up and it`s timed action but still controlled. Same with the BD pedal, there`s times when you have to slam it and go for the reso head and times (mostly) when shorter controlled beats are needed (heel down) Your car seat is low so you don`t have to use any other muscles than below the knee. Your throne should be too.

If you wanna get used to and strengthen the muscles of heel down,...play standing up. I`m forever standing somewhere here and there playing a pedal that aint there. It help me to stop stepping the pedal as the norm.

No on the slingys, still have them. I need to repost them here.

The hollywoods are red sparkle 12-13-16 & 22 no snare. I am buying them from surface at a ateal of a deal. I got them 1/2 paid for.
