Rogers impulse buy Last viewed: 4 minutes ago

Beautiful kit and a good price. Very hard to find any in the Strata finishes that are not cracked: as long as the wrap is well adhered to the shell it's ok.

Very tough to find Celebrity kits with both l-arms present after all this time. They are available, but not cheap. You could sell off the stands you don't need and get a couple.

Those numbers put them around the first half of 1968.

Are the I arms for the cymbals on the bass drum? It did come with one I just didn't mount it for the pictures.

They are indeed for the ride/splash cymbals! Here's a couple pics of my 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's with both "L" arms. Mine features the 14X24 basss drum, just like Buddy's... the rest of the set is the same as yours, with the addition of the 2nd 16X16... like BR's! My snare drum is a 1967 wood/WMP Dynasonic, which makes this as close to a BR set as one could get. I gig these drums 99.9% of the time. They play/sound FABULOUS! You will enjoy yours for sure!

That is an amazing kit! The funny thing is how close these drums sound to my Sonor Prolite kit. I am even watching another Rogers kit on the bay right now. It's sitting at $405 right now. Anyway I plan on heading in the studio to shoot some videos and would like to shoot some of my vintage kits now also.

After work I was thinking about the cracking wrap issue. I sent an email to a few folks who might have ideas. In the meantime I thought I would try a few things.

I found some 3d Fabric paint and some model paint. I didn't have my drums with me and I had my daughter so trying to find a color match was near impossible. However I will go back tomorrow with my drum in hand. The fabric paint is made to withstand washing and so forth. The model paint would not be easy to work with into small spaces. The plan would be to use my precision injector to get color where I need it. Anyway just an idea I will test in a very small portion now.

You can also refer to the Vintage Drum Guide through the link at upper right-hand corner of this site, and find Rogers drums link. Go to the '67/68 catalog or the '68 catalog and see the silver sparkle Celebrity kit. It will show you how the cymbal arms are laid out on that model.

Dan,

Thank you I was able to go through all those catalogs. That helped a lot. To be honest I doubt I will ever use the bass drum mounted cymbal arms. I highly doubt I will even use the tom mount. In just mounting the tom I heard some wood creaking that worried me! I normally throw my rack tom on a snare stand or hang it off a cymbal stand.

I am very happy with this Rogers kit so far. I have not had a chance to play much at all. Lately been recording my main band's acoustic set. No complaints though as I got to break out the djembe also.

When I pick up my clubbies I will get to work on the Rogers kit more. I have my own office for my business and I think I will move a lot of my stuff there.

Well, as one of the guys notes in his signature line, "Hit it, it's a drum."

Hard to tell color from the pic but try a small dab of black or even gray to help pale out the blue a bit. If you can get a "neutral" black to work with that would be best. As your basic black in paint normally has a good amount of dark blue in it already.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

That is a great idea :) I will also try some other colors that might be a closer match. My kit was a great deal I guess after seeing this:

Sure mine has some wrap issue but is more original than that one. I will have time this weekend to work on this and the Clubbies. Will post some pictures as I take them.
