Re the term "Full Dress",

Could someone elaborate a little..

Does it refer only to the diamond inlay pattern drums, and did it originate from a military parade type term ?.

thanks in anticipation..

Cheers

Yes, it applies to the diamond appliques. Most likely of military origin.

My 1935 7 by 14 Broadcaster...

needs some parts still :-(

In pic 3,they only put 3 tacks or brads on the diamond, instead of 4...OOPS!

I put the grommet in the hole where the badge normally goes...after seeing Mark's pics above with one....

Blair, I think your drum is a Radio King and not a Broadcaster. Wrong tone control. More like a 1936-37 version.

I put that muffler in....

It didn,t come with one...

Still...could be a RK....

I thought the lack of lug inserts made it a Broadcaster though....?

Ps...wouldn't the lack of a badge point to Broadcaster?

If the green felt muffler you put in fit the holes, then it's an RK. The old style and newer style are not interchangeable. And no badge is due to the full dress diamonds. In most cases, full dress snare drums received no badge.

The first Radio Kings had tapped lugs.

OK..so..I guess it is a RK then! Darn...

But still, wouldn't it be one of the very first RK's ?

I tried putting a later, 2 pad red felt Sling muffler in..wouldn't go..

When I tried this green pad one...it went...

Would that actually be the correct muffler then for a 1936-7 RK?

A fluke,if so,that I just happened to have one in my parts...

Thanks for all the info so far Mark!
