Stewart Drum Question?

Loading...

I'm rehabbing my old Stewart kit (mid/late 60's - I think) for my nephew and I'm having trouble finding four tension rods.

I've tried Gibraltar rods but they are a different thread count (24 TPI) vs. the Stewart rods which are 28 TPI.

Would current MIJ tension rods - say for Pearl - work on my old Stewart kit?

Thanks for the replies!!!

Trouble is, Pearl, Star, and Hoshino, all put out drums with the Stewart badge. We'll need more specific info, i.e. pictures, or confirmed I.D. of the lugs would be most helpful.

Post a pic of the t-rods. I have some from the rehab of a '66 Star I did a while back and would be happy to send them to you if they're the right ones. There are a few guys on the forum here that stock and sell these parts regularly and you'll likely hear from them soon.

I am more confused than I was before. The Stewart Floor Tom & snare have Tension Rods that have 24 TPI, but the rack tom definitely have tension rods that are 28 TPI.

Thus, here are some pictures:

Thanks for the pics - your lug appears to be 'Star' which would probably mean that nearlybrian's t-rods should work for you. Pearl t-rods will not work.

Thanks for the information DN!

Can anyone tell me why the rack tom would have different lugs/T-rods than the floor tom or snare? It seems bizarre to me that the FT and Snare would have 24TPI rods and the rack would have 28TPI. Is it possible that different manufacturers made different drums for the same set???

Anyway, I'd much prefer to have all three drums with the same tension rods, so there's no chance of my nephew cross threading one with the other. Which I guess means I need 12 inserts and 12 tension rods that are 24TPI.

NearlyBrian - I'm willing to deal, please send me a PM

Thanks folks for all the Info! Bowing

Bump!

Still looking for lug inserts to convert 12, 28 thread per inch lugs into 24 threads per inch lugs for Stewart/Star set.

Thanks!
