Hal Blaine Style Blaemires Last viewed: 6 hours ago

These took awhile to finish.

Exterior side had a lot of voids and holes hidden by wrap.

Glass/resin filling required on exterior side.

Lets see, now I just need a 6, an 8, and a 10 and a 12...............

D**m, Jinx just sold a 6 and an 8.

I guess I can only do 1/2 of the "Cherokee People " fill.

These shells were silver sparkle from Utah.

Thanks Joe.

I absolutely LOVE the color!

Now, I know nothing about Blaemires. In fact, the only mention I have ever heard/read has been here on the VDF.

Did they always use that sort of "RIMS" type of mounting?

No, Rims were not invented/being used yet in the 60's when these shells appeared.

I use them because I just don't like the shell on any drum being twisted with weight on it. Especially a 15 and 16.

Look up "Hal Blaine Monster Kit" for more Blaemire concert tom info.

His were hung on regular tom brackets drilled and bolted to the shell.

His were on approx 100 hit records that we all have heard.

Yes, I think 100 is actually close.

The color is the natural color of the roving encased in fiberglass resin with a clear coat.

Thanks for tuning in.

Dude, WOW! In that second photo, the way the light is hitting the shells, it almost looks like Abalone'! Beautiful shells.

Man, I was so tempted to buy the 6 & 8 when Jinx put them out, but they are sizes I never play, or have occasion to. I figured, let them go to a guy who will use them and maybe has been looking for a long time for those sizes.

You should have snagged them! You'd be 2/3rd's of the way toward your Classic Blaine set-up!

Sweet looking drums, buddy. Love the sizes. Once again, excellent save!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Should have snagged them. YES

But I was already working on 2 and.........Darn.......

That's right ! The Hal Tribute Kit.

Thats another project to shoot for.

Along with the THC.

Should be busy for the rest of my life.

Abalone, kind of.

The green shells differ from one to the next in color and amount of air and debris in them.

This one had a lot of non green colors swirling through.

Black, brown, white, areas where the mesh came through the glass.

Producing..........A "Green Abalone Finish." I guess

I like the sound of that.

Every one is different. The Blae Shells that is.

Thanks sa
