Yep, you never know how auctions on ebay will end as a seller...Sometimes they end in your favor, sometimes they don`t...I find that the auction end time has a lot to do with what amount the item will sell for...I think that early evening (7-8 o`clock) is the best time for an auction to end because people are home from work, ate dinner and relaxing...

Cheers

But haven't we all also made great scores like that lucky buyer? Does it all even out in the long run? Funny how we seem to evaluate the dollar value of any given item at two, disparate prices depending upon whether we're selling it or trying to buy it.

Got one too. I sold two old Trans stamp 14 inch cymbals, both weighed in at 1440-1450 grams. One had a crap load of rivets, the others had the holes only. Person with winning bid on both got them for a whopping $43.50 I was setback they went for so little. Next time a mininum bid for sure.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I listed them each for $60.... Then $50....... No bites....

Then, thought I would start them out at the ol 99 cents.....

Usually a mistake.......as this proves......

Ubiquitous cymbals like New Beats and pretty much ALL A's will almost always sell for a fraction of their original cost. The deal is that there is nothing unique about them. That's why A's were made -to be accessible. Old K's were hand hammered and too "hit & miss" as far as sound goes. The A line made it possible for consistency and easy availability. Unfortunately, as great as some of them sound, machine-made Zildjian cymbals almost never increase in value.

The last time I listed something on eBay, it was an early 70s 3-ply 10x14" Ludwig shell with clear interior (that had been sprayed black by some dummy), black oyster pearl finish in perfect shape, and a really clean B/O badge. I figured it would fetch me at least $60-80, as aside from the black paint it was pretty much tip-top, and I'd seen others go for that much or more.

I think the final selling price was $19. By the time I shipped and counted my time and a trip to the post office, I figure I sold that beautiful old drum shell for about 6 dollars.

And that's why I haven't listed a thing on eBay since. What a joke. I should have kept it and cut it down into a snare.
