I`ve never seen the gunmetal engraved Super ludwigold before, not even in the catalogs. It has the engraved Super Ludwig on the left of the snaregate, doesn`t that make it a Ludwigold model ?

This is the one I thought it was because of the engraved on the left of the snaregate, just like yours but with Delux imitation Gold finish, not genuine gold like yours. Both yours and his have gunmetal engraved and no mention of that option for that shell. That`s where I got confused. I try to learn as much as I can from you.

It mentions Black engraved on that page but says on Professional model, is that what these are ? In that same catalog, the professional model is a single tension wood shell so I`m all kinds of confused !i

Ludwigold is the name for the textured irridescent gold finish gold finish that was applied to both metal and wood shell drums in 1926 through the early 1930's. "DeLuxe" was the term used by Ludwig & Ludwig for their imitation gold lacquer that was applied to hardware.
Hi,It looks like a 1929 Super-Ludwig 10-point flat top double lined floral pattern that was seen only on 1929 L&L DeLuxe Models...pgs. 60-61 in my book the only difference is that mine has gold plated hardware. The drum could definitely use some restoration or at the very least some cleaning. I just finished restorting two of the exact same drums and they came out like champs...see attached...the drum in the photos looked like yours before my restoration...there is a lot involved so I won't waste space here but feel free to call me at: 650-595-2022 or email me at: mike@curottodrums.com and I will be able to tell you more...I'm betting that you didn't pay a whole lot for the drum so a restoration would be cost-effective, in my opinion.Mike Curotto
As Mike stated, he restored an engraved 1928-29 Super-Ludwig of mine which was so dirty that I couldn't tell it had gold-plating! It came out much, much better than expected. A gem. Mike did a wonderful job - highly recommended!
