[Attachment: 60865]Hello

has anyone ever heard of drum makers Kitchen & Co Leeds U.K

I bought this drum (see pics) from a gentleman who's great uncle lived in Leeds, the great uncle bought this drum from Kitchen & Co before the First World War. He left this drum with his sister to look after when he went to war, but sadly he never returned. His sister kept the drum and left it to her grandson when she died. The drum has been kept in a loft since around 1914 / 1918.

It is made of Nickel over Brass and the inner of the hoops are painted red. It measures 14,1/2inch by 3,1/2inch without hoops, the hoops are 3/4 of an inch deep. The strainer as you can see from pic is a hook style attached to top hoop, The drum heads are original calf skin stamped Kitchen & Co Selected. some pic's are from when I got the drum and the others are after the 1st stage of restoration. Please take a look at pic's any information would be welcome.

Thanks Sean

I have some English rogers that were retailed by Kitchens of Leeds. Their stamp may mean that they retailed it but didn't necessarily make it.

I remembered an old thread on Dolbear as well ........

Could you upload some photos of the drum in a completed form ? The details establish it is a Kitchen.

When i bought the drum it looked in a bad way. I have cleaned all the parts hoops and shell. The skins are also stamped from kitchen and co. I wouldnt have a clue as to any value. As soon as ive completed the drum i will assemble and post the complete pics. Have you heard of kitchen drums before.
