Just curious about this.

What do you like to listen to when you're in the shop?

What puts you in the mood to set edges?

what's your sunday morning song?

What music makes your want to make a really beautiful drum?

I never listen to music while I'm working. It's going to sound weird, but I like to hear the sounds of the tools, sanding etc. Sometimes you can tell if you're doing something wrong by the sound of the tool against the wood, the swoosh of sanding operations, etc. I'm so focused on whatever I'm doing that music would prove to be a distraction for me. I listen to the music the shop makes, (my basement basically.)

Too many great drums to list here!

I'm just the opposite of John. I seem to NEED something going on while I'm working!

If I'm out in the garage (decent weather), I've usually got our local FM "oldies" station going. They play mostly 60s and 70s stuff, which of course is what I grew up on (60s) and cut my teeth on (70s).

During parts of the year that I'm inside, I usually have a TV going with westerns (you know, John Wayne movies, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Big Valley, etc. -- shoot, we've even got a station that play old reruns including the Virginian and the High Chapparell).

I know, I know... too much information...

Saturdays, College football. Sundays, pro football on TV (Bears, Packers)

All other days I have my phone MP3 going. I have a ton of music everything from Michel Bubble to Black Sabbath. No rap music! Love to hear blues and rock the most. My favorites are, not in any order,

Van Morison

Neil Young

John Hiatt

Warren Zevon

Pink Floyd (nope, I'm not a stoner, I'm much smarter than that)

Tommy Castro

Delbert McClinton

I listen to music all the time, everywhere I go, if I can. My machines are loud but I have a stereo that I can hear over them! Have to wear ear protection anyway!

Thank you!

Depends on the mood I'm in. Few of my last choices:

Samurai Champloo OST (great instrumental hip-hop, very good stuff for people who aren't too keen on the genre, such as myself)

The Libertines

The White Stripes

Pentangle

Cream

Basically anything I like, though.

Ditto!!! Our local FM Oldies station plays all those Top 40 hits that remind you of your first girlfriend, your first car, or hanging around the local diner on a Friday night. Puts me in a happy place when I'm working on drums from that same era.

Must have music happening when I am working indoors or out..

Anything Jerry Douglas does it for me, lots of variety and superb playing, I only discovered him while in the US last year and have been catching up by collecting his albums since. Love that Dobro ..

Cheers
